Krupp Brothers Wine Dinner at Cordeiro’s

Cordeiro’s Steakhouse, 2025 Monticello Road, Napa, CA 94558
Saturday, March 16, 2019

This was a very special dinner featuring the limited production wines from Krupp Brothers Winery. Our dinner was held at Cordeiro’s Steakhouse in the recently constructed private dining building at the rear of the property. We worked with staff from both Krupp Brothers and Cordeiro’s to create a menu that paired perfectly with the wines. Both Nikki Lincoln and Dr. Jan Krupp joined us for dinner to introduce us to their wines.

In 1995, Dr. Jan Krupp started developing the land at the top of Soda Canyon Road that is now Stagecoach Vineyard. It took him seven years to clear more than a billion pounds of volcanic rock. Another challenge was lack of water. Jan hired a world-renowned geologist who failed to find water. Instead of quitting, Jan hired a “water witch” who walked the property with her apparatus of two copper rods, stopping abruptly at one spot where an underground stream was found at a depth of 400 feet. Now with nearly 600 acres planted to vines, the Cabernet-focused Stagecoach is the largest contiguous vineyard in the Napa Valley. Over 90 wineries craft premium wines from the fruit harvested on this dramatic terrain. Cick here to read more about Stagecoach Vineyard.

In 1999, Jan and his brother Bart founded Krupp Brothers, producing extraordinary wines from Stagecoach Vineyard. Their wines are both made from classic Bordeaux varietals, as well as some non-traditional blends made with Viognier, Roussanne, Tempranillo, and Syrah. Their wines are frequently rated in the mid-90’s by Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator. The brothers sold Stagecoach in 2017, but Jan continues in his role at the vineyard, paying careful attention to the farming of the blocks retained for Krupp Brothers Winery.
